Enjoy the Bay of Islands
The Bay of Islands is a very special area of New Zealand. It is the
birthplace of our nation and as such offers a wealth of historical
attractions.
Historical Attractions
Visit the Waitangi Treaty House and Maori War Canoe. Pompallier Mission House and Museum at Russell. Kerikeri is the location
of the Stone Store and Kemp House.
 Water Activities
With a semi tropical climate and comprising of 144 islands the Bay of
Islands offers virtually every water activity imaginable. Famous for Big
Game Fishing the visitor can also cruise the bay in a fast boat or sail
the day away on a yacht. Swim with the dolphins, scuba dive, go sea
kayaking, try parasailing, or just laze on one of the beautiful beaches
with the occasional swim to cool off.
Land Based Activities
For those who prefer land based activities there are coastal and forest
walks. A short distance from Crows Nest offers the visitor an easy
enjoyable scenic walk to Paihia. For the more enthusiastic there are
walks to Cape Brett or Whangamumu the site of an old whaling station.
Puketi Forest (near Kerikeri) offers a short walk to view the giant
kauri trees.
Sporting Activities
If golf is your preference, play a round at the beautiful Waitangi and
the challenging Kauri Cliffs golf courses.
Jump from a plane, go horse riding or just relax on the deck at Crows
Nest with a glass of wine and enjoy the superb sea views. Whatever you
preference your host can organise it for you.
Enjoy the Region
 KerikeriJust 20 minutes north of Opua discover the citrus growing area of
Kerikeri with its many local specialty craft and food outlets. Enjoy
wine tasting at one of the local vineyards.
The Far NorthCrows Nest is an ideal base from which to explore further north. Take a
trip to Cape Reinga, visiting the beautiful areas of Mangonui and
Coopers Beach along the way and travel home along the famous Ninety Mile
Beach.
Northland's West Coast
Spend a day on the West Coast of Northland. Visit the Wairere Boulders,
explore the Hokianga harbour with its fascinating and historic townships
of Rawene, Kohukohu and Opononi.
Dining Out
The area provides many restaurants offering a wide range of menus.
Whether for casual dining or fine cuisine Crows Nest is situated within
easy distance of all local restaurants.
If you prefer to use your fully equipped kitchen, shopping for
provisions is just minutes away at Opua or Paihia.
